Background
The Scrum Master works within a multi-disciplinary digital product team (squad) aimed at delivering assignments supporting the development of the FCA’s Digital Unified Intelligence Environment (DUIE). They lead Agile ceremonies and create a harmonious environment that enables the product team to deliver on its commitments effectively.
What does the role involve? What are the key responsibilities?
Guides and coaches the digital product team on the use of Agile practices and principles
Facilitates and supports Agile ceremonies: sprint planning, sprint reviews, daily scrums, and retrospectives.
Optimises the flow of work through the digital product team, supporting the Product Owner in creating product roadmaps and combing backlogs.
Prepares and distributes reports on the performance of the product team – including cadence, velocity, and burndown against its commitments.
Resolves risks, issues, interdependencies and manages external relationships on behalf of the digital product team.
Creates a harmonious environment, managing conflict quickly and appropriately, creating a trusting and co-operative environment to enable the team to perform to its optimal level.
Estimate and co-ordinate releases with product release management, project managers and business stakeholders aligning to project timescales, release calendars and stakeholder needs.
Contributes to the advancement and improvement of Agile practices within the FCA, coordinating with other Scrum Masters and Agile Coaches to ensure that processes are optimised.

Which minimum, essential & desirable skills are required?

Minimum
Substantial experience as a Scrum Master, IT Delivery Manager or IT Project Manager
Knowledge of an agile framework or method (i.e. Scrum, Kanban), or understanding of software development life cycle models as well as in-depth knowledge of traditional project management principles and practices
5+ years’ experience working in a software development environment
Essential
Demonstrable experience overseeing multi-functional project teams
Ability to establish a data-driven culture and a repeatable, structured, and disciplined approach to the Agile process
Excellent knowledge of Scrum techniques and artefacts (such as Definition of Done, user stories, automated testing, backlog refinement)
Excellent communication and servant leadership skills
Ability to solve problems and resolve conflicts in high pressure environments
Outstanding organisational skills
Strong communication and presentation skills
Substantial experience of configuring software tools to support issue and project tracking, backlog management, and reporting.
Desirable
Business acumen in either financial services or financial regulation
Experience collaborating with highly technical colleagues/stakeholders (data analysts, data scientists, data engineers, technologists etc.)
Knowledge of the Design Thinking process.

We are recruiting for a Scrum Master. The role is graded as Senior Associate within our Regulatory Career Family.
The FCA has a national role and is committed to a national footprint. This role can be based in London, Leeds and Edinburgh. The FCA has London and National Pay ranges to reflect regional differences.
London salary range is approximately £50,000 to £75,000
National salary range (including Edinburgh and Leeds) is approximately £47,000 to £67,000
