Flexible working Patterns -The MOD prides itself on being a modern employer and encourages flexible working, giving you the opportunity to adopt a working pattern that suits you and/or your family life, and promotes a healthy work/life balance.
Annual Leave -As a new entrant to the Civil Service you are entitled to 25 days annual leave which increases by one day for each year completed service, up to a maximum of 30 days.
Special Leave -You may be able to take special leave in certain circumstances. Special leave is time off work granted for a variety of reasons in addition to any annual, maternity, paternity, adoption, shared parental, parental, flexi leave, bank or privilege holidays or time off in lieu. We cannot plan for everything in life and MOD recognises this by awarding special leave in both unplanned and planned circumstances, including bereavement, studying, jury service, volunteering, Reservist Service, public duties and certain sporting events. Special leave can be either paid or unpaid and limits vary.
Maternity, Paternity and Adoption Leave -We offer a generous maternity and adoption leave package for staff having or adopting a baby (or child). Staff on maternity or adoption leave (primary adopter) can enjoy up to 52 weeks of leave, 26 of which are at full occupational pay (providing you meet the eligibility criteria). The remaining 26 weeks is split between 13 weeks at statutory pay and 13 weeks unpaid.
Learning and Development -The MOD encourages all employees to develop themselves and to constantly learn. Everyone should have at least 5 days’ a year learning (though we would always encourage more), whether that’s job shadowing, being mentored, undertaking your continuous professional development or going on a training course.
In-Year Reward Scheme -The In-Year Reward scheme allows line managers to reward their teams in real time. The scheme ensures you, as an employee can see a clear link between what you have delivered and the reward you have received. In-Year awards can be awarded up to £5000 per year. All In Year awards are subject to tax and National Insurance deductions.
Thank You Scheme -Retail vouchers of up to £100 can be awarded in recognition of an excellent one-off piece of work. The ‘Thank You’ scheme is a way of showing appreciation for the hard work, effort and achievement you contributed to a piece of work.
Pension -The Civil Service Pension Scheme is one of the best pension schemes in the country, famed for its financial benefits to staff. New starters will automatically be enrolled into a pension scheme.
Allowances -Statistical officers in MOD are eligible to receive an RRA of £1,500 per year which increases to £3,000 after the first year providing that the individual has demonstrated no significant weaknesses against any of the Functional Competence Groups
Posts based in High Wycombe also attract a locational allowance of £2,000
