Dental Nurse (Qualified)
Oradent Dental Care, Mayden, New Romney, Kent has a fantastic opportunity for a Qualified Dental Nurse to join their friendly and dynamic team. The successful candidate will be fully supported by our Senior Management Team which currently includes the Operations Director, HR Manager, Business Development and Patient Experience Director who continually work closely with the heads of our hard-working support staff to ensure the Qualified Dental Nurse is able to succeed and deliver their best in the role.
Hours: 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, flexible shift pattern with occasional Saturdays on an adhoc practice needs basis. Full-time role or 2 people part time will be considered, permanent contract.
Reporting to the Dentist Practice Manager, the successful Qualified Dental Nurse will be responsible for managing the work of all clinical and non-clinical staff, ensuring service delivery and all operational aspects within a specified practice. This with the view to achieve excellent customer service, quality, cost and delivery performance in line with company strategy, goals and values. The role of a Qualified Dentist Nurse is to work alongside and assist Dentists, Therapists and Hygienists in the care of patients, Chaperone in such a way that positively affects the patients perception on their visit/experience with Oradent Dental Care. It is a varied job and can include everything from supporting routine check ups to advanced specialist treatments.
Dental Nurse - Qualified
The role of the Dental Nurse:
People:
- Establish, assist and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, managers,clinicians and the general public.
- Communicate effectively with the practice team.
- Obtain/Evidence required nursing qualification.
- Support Head Nurse in delivering monthly audits and maintenance of surgeries.
- Assist Head Nurse in training and monitoring junior nurses and new staff.
- Pursue development of skills and knowledge and attend training necessary for the
- performance of the role.
- Liaise with external parties as necessary to perform duties.
- Focus on ensuring that team members and patients are cared for and effectively managed, as well as ensuring the practice reaches specific goals and KPIs.

- You should work autonomously, utilising your analytical skills to form an accurate account of the practice business.
- Assist patients on their journey through the consultation process and ensure all enquiries are handled effectively and quickly.
- Responsibility for the complete patient journey, ensuring a consistent experience for all patients and leads.
- Greet Patients on arrival to the practice in a courteous and professional manner and introduce necessary staff.
- The Dental Nurse will be involved with all aspects of the patient journey for new and existing patients.
- The Dental Nurse will handle all new leads and patients according to the designated pathway, ensuring all information is captured and recorded as required.
- Conduct Telephone Consultations/Call backs/ and face to face contacts with new and existing patients with the aim of building rapport and securing attendance for a Dental Consultation, and completing all necessary reporting via our CRM system and directly to the clinicians.
- Have the ability to promote treatment and have the drive to optimise as many patients into treatment prescribed by the dentists.
- Provide chair side support to the operator during treatment.
- Keep full, accurate and contemporaneous patient records.
- Monitor, support and reassure patients along with giving appropriate patient advice.
- Support the patient and their colleagues if there is a medical emergency.
- Make appropriate referrals to other health professionals.
Practice:
- Maintain regular consistent and professional attendance, punctuality and personal appearance.
- Ensure all relevant computers and IT equipment and manual systems are functional.
- Operate a variety of standard office equipment as required.
- Follow Cross Infection Control Policy and Procedures at all times.
- Prepare and maintain the clinical environment, including the equipment.
- Carry out infection prevention and control procedures to prevent physical, chemical and microbiological contamination in the surgery or laboratory.
- Record dental charting and oral tissue assessment carried out by other registrants.
- Prepare, mix and handle dental biomaterials.
- Follow company policies and procedures at all times.
- Ensure surgeries are well stocked/maintained at all times.
- Conduct patient oral hygiene instructions.
- Request all relevant documentation from patients.
- Prepare equipment, materials and patients for the dental radiography process.
- You will have experience in compliance and understand the requirements of CQC.
- You will have access to a full compliance package to help you manage your practice compliance responsibilities.
- Ensure the practice runs smoothly and efficiently in line with the business vision.
- Be responsible for the effective and safe management of our dental practice.
- Completing all internal trackers and paperwork as required by the organisation and to assist the patients on an excellent patient journey.
- Follow up individual patient lists with the aim of converting patients and generating revenue.
- Reporting to line managers and the senior management team in regards to performance against listed KPIs and targets.
- Handle payments to the practice by card, finance and BACS transfer.
- Keep accurate records of financial transactions for patient treatment plans.
- Work with the management team to keep them up to date with new patient pathways and implementing updated patient journeys.
- Make future appointments as required, including follow up calls reviewing treatment plans.
- Working closely with our marketing team and sales lead to increased patient uptake.
- Develop and keep up-to-date all practice policies and act in accordance with practice rules and code of conduct.
- Plan the income targets for the practice.
- Manage NHS contract targets and discuss treatment plans and costs with patients.
- Ensure the practice continues to grow and attract new patients.
- Record keeping in line with GDPR and practice procedure.
- Work closely with clinical staff to ensure optimal diary management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Management of lab-work leaving and arriving at the practice.
- Upholding and implementing Covid-19 health & safety protocols and maintaining good cleanliness and cross infection in non-clinical areas.
- Be familiar with CQC requirements and compliance.
- Excellent people management skills and be familiar with HR regulations and procedures in line with the latest up to date policies.
- Oversee Rotas and timesheets for staff.
- To ensure that all staff are complying with current legislation such as Fire, Health & Safety, CQC regulations, RIDDOR and COSHH.
- Maintain detailed and accurate computerised and paper patient records.
- Take radiography under relevant supervision.
- Liaise with other staff members/referring dentists as necessary to perform duties and aid patients and business.
- Accurately file dental records/study models both current and archived.
- Ensure appliances/study models/radiography and up to date patient information is always available for clinicians .
- Ensure daily, weekly, monthly and yearly tasks have been completed. (see procedures manual for surgeries)
- Have a working knowledge of reception duties.
- Have in depth knowledge of complex procedures (e,g. expose and bond, lingual).
- Prepared to be part of external teams when necessary.
- Obtained required nursing qualification.
- Qualified or prepared to qualify in taking Radiographs.
- Responsible for keeping up to date CPD
- Registration with relevant bodies.
- Any additional duties deemed necessary by the line manager.
- Assist Head Nurse in his/her duties when absent.
Profit
- Responsible for certain monthly reports.
- Control inventory and assist in the stock ordering system.
Dental Nurse - Qualified
Qualifications
- GCSE or equivalent
- GDC Registration
- ILM level 3 or above in Leadership and Management (Preferred).
- CQC Registered (preferred).
- NVQ level 3 in Dental Nursing (or equivalent)
- NEBDN Certificate in Dental Radiography (or equivalent)
Experience
- Qualified Dental Practice Nursing: 2 years (preferred).
- Have a polite and courteous demeanor.
- Be organised, and able to manage variable patient and practice situations.
- Be able to manage multiple people on site and to be the line manager for all people on site.
- Experience with compliance protocols.
Skills
- Able to demonstrate initiative.

Salary: £11.00 - £13.00 per hour, depending on experience.
