We employ a talented workforce of 60 people across our offices in Nottingham, London, Leicester, and Newark and Focus will be a Net Zero Carbon consultancy in operation by 2026. Our core services comprise:
CREATE Funding, Business Planning, Economic Development, Research and Evaluation
DELIVER Project Management, Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying
ASSESS Sustainability & Environment, Building Physics, Carbon, Compliance, Planning Support and Performance Testing
We are looking to recruit a motivated and resourceful Graduate or Apprentice Quantity Surveyor to be based at our Nottingham Office to assist in the development and delivery of capital projects. The post represents an exceptional opportunity for the right person to continue their professional development towards RICS Chartered status.
Focus has a first-class track record in successfully supporting individuals through training and we will actively encourage and support the same or similar for the successful individual. Your role will encompass traditional Quantity Surveying duties, including Feasibility Studies, Cost Plans, Schedules of Work, Employer’s Requirements, Valuations and Cost Reports, Final Accounts, and cashflows. You will also have opportunity to work in:
- Contract Administration • Project Management • Delivering projects in the cultural, heritage and museums sector • Delivering projects in the public sector for Local Authorities • Life Cycle Costing, Renewable Technologies and / or Mechanical and Electrical Services Surveying
You will be enthusiastic and ambitious, have good interpersonal skills, be keen to learn and to be challenged. Educated to a good standard, we expect you to be an Undergraduate or Graduate in a construction discipline such as Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying, Architecture, Project / Construction Management, Building Services, and need to be IT literate.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to quickly progress to autonomy, leading your own projects and working closely with a range of clients, you will have the chance to develop your professional skills and knowledge across the wider Focus service portfolio.

As a Graduate / Apprentice Quantity Surveyor, the successful candidate should already have a basic set of skills and qualifications within this field. We will also consider applications from individuals already at consultant grade. Salary would be commensurate to reflect the successful candidate’s experience and qualifications. The role should help develop the skills of the successful candidate, broadening their understanding within the field.
