Lead the day to day business and strategic direction for a global meetings and events division as part of a large medical education team delivering immersive and engaging training tools and experiences across the life sciences industry.

We are in search of a talented business leader, creative leader, meetings and events global expert, and creative thinker/problem-solver to help shape the events expression of our work and help to manage our rapid growth in alignment with our culture and values. The team delivers hundreds of events around the world with a solid mix of virtual and face to face. The role is supported by a team of Event Project Managers. Within the larger team, these planners collaborate with other areas of expertise - strategy, creative, content, project management, account management, business operations, and execution.
This position is home-based with frequent collaboration with a globally-distributed team. Direct and indirect reports are located in the US, Argentina, and Europe. About the Director, Global Meetings and Events
Collaborating with the inquisitive and imaginative minds within the division, the Director will lead the continued expansion, strategic direction and continuous improvement for the meetings and events team. The Director will serve on the leadership team of 7 directors (BD, Strategy, Content, Creative, Events, PMO, and Strategic Business Operations), and provide high-level strategic direction to support and represent the events team.
Day to day responsibilities include:
- Partnering with broader project teams in the planning, budgeting, forecasting and allocation of staff for existing and new business and working with stakeholders to enhance team building and cross-functional collaboration.
- Continual analysis of tools, technologies and processes to ensure optimal efficient delivery
- Leadership and line management of event planners. Responsible for hiring, resourcing, engaging and retaining global team
- Incident management support and point of escalation
- Participate in the development and delivery of new business proposals and RFIs/RFPs, maximizing business opportunities with both existing and new clients and contributing to the development of new solutions and services - presenting concepts and facilitating discussions as required.
- Strong communication skills and ability to express oneself clearly and build relationships is essential as is the ability to direct multiple initiatives simultaneously and be responsive to internal and external constraints and inter-dependencies
- Accountable for overall performance, efficiency and quality of events team and assigned services, closely monitoring profitability and proactively initiating actions to maximize this; leading on cost estimates, and monitoring compliance. Managing, identifying and maximising opportunities for cost control and revenue generation. Provide analytics and reports to senior leadership

You have planned and delivered events for both clinical and commercial sectors of the life sciences industry. In addition to extensive expertise you have 7+ years of leadership experience within event planning, manging teams of up to 10 direct reports – ideally managing global teams.

You are an unstoppable force while working through creative challenges, establishing and evolving event designs, and refining the details to deliver an exceptional participant experience.
Lead:
You are perceptive to the strengths of your division, your colleagues on the leadership team, your direct reports and your peers - you know when to delegate aspects of a project to the right people while maintaining creative consistency. You are highly effective at contributing to a matrixed system – navigating processes within your authority and those that are not. Mentoring fellow planners and helping teammates to understand process brings you joy.
