Job Description

An extraordinary opportunity has arisen for a Psychosexual Therapy Lead within Sexual Health across Kent and Medway with our first-class Psychosexual Therapy Service. It is a very well-established NHS service which deals with over two thousand appointments every year and employs 6 therapists, two assistant practitioners and two administrators. The service covers the whole of the Kent and Medway areas.

With the retirement of two senior team members we're looking for someone who can drive strategic development with a new vision, energy and enthusiasm to take the team forward with confidence and visibility. This will require someone with the knowledge and understanding of the current NHS landscape to continue to advocate for and promote the important role and work of the Psychosexual Therapy Service, as well as the growth of Psychological Therapies within Sexual Health. You'll need to have held COSRT accredited status or IPM membership for at least three years.

You'll need highly developed therapy skills, as you'll have a caseload of clients with complex needs and presentations. In addition, you will support and manage the evolution of psychological, liaise and collaborate with NHS commissioners, other health trusts and services across the geographical area. Clinical work is likely to involve some evening work and although the service is currently mostly operating virtually at the present time, it will be necessary to be able to offer some face to face sessions going forward.

You will provide professional vision and leadership to the specialist psychological and psychosexual therapy provision for Sexual Health Services across the whole of Kent and Medway, ensuring the effective delivery of a flexible and responsive service.

You will ensure that the service operates at the highest level of quality and current best practice, both bio-medical and psychotherapeutic, with research and development a major responsibility and taking a key role in the development and implementation of policy for the service as a whole.

A big element of your role will be strategic leadership of the psychological/psychosexual therapy provision of sexual health services, by providing skilled supervision and consultation to other health professionals as well as leading research and audit initiatives, and ensuring implementation of evaluation criteria for service outcomes
