Job Description
We're recruiting temporary Packing Assistants to support with our busy peak periods.
Our Packing Assistants form part of a committed friendly team who work within our Packing department at our award-winning eco-factory in Peacemarsh, Gillingham.
Working Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours a week, 07:00 - 14:30.
Fixed term contract until October 2023.
Experience in a past paced factory environment is preferable, and candidates must be physically fit, and able to work standing up for long periods.
Role Responsibilities:
- Working as part of the Packing Production team.
- To work in accordance to GMP (Good Manufacturing Guidelines).
- Liaising with the Line Leader and Production Manager to fulfil the next production requirement.
- Checking materials supplied by the Warehouse Assistant against list issued within the Works Order.
- Ensuring all supplied materials are QC passed for use.
- Communicating any material quality issues to the Quality Department via the Line Leader and Production Manager.
- Ensuring line production equipment and area is clean and fit for use.
- Work effectively and efficiently in order to meet production schedules.
- To make product and process quality checks and take samples as required and record readings accordingly.
- To make adjustments to machinery and processes in order to produce product within specification.
- To ensure that all products produced and/or assembled are within specification.
- To read, understand and work according to procedures documented within the NYR Quality and Production Manual.
- To complete production schedules and record data on the Production QC Record Sheets.
- To use the waste and recycling containers and systems as intended and minimize waste generation.
- Rework returned or defect product accordingly.
- Clear production area and equipment of surplus components and return unused materials and components to the Warehouse Assistant after the production run.
- Champion a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
- To comply with the requirements of the company Quality Management System and Good Manufacturing Practice as relevant to role/work area.
- Engage in our positive health and safety culture.
Person specification:
- Experience in a past paced factory environment is preferable.
- Physically fit, able to work standing up for long period
- Practically minded, able to address a task in a logical and efficient manner
- Strong attention to detail, and a desire to produce high quality service
- Numerate
- Computer literate (desired)
- Pro-active attitude and flexibility in approach to tasks
- Able to work well as part of a team and on own initiative
- Proven track record of continuous improvement
- Able to recognise faults and quality issues and make adjustments/actions accordingly.
- Willing to work reasonable overtime during peak periods
