Job Summary
We have had a fantastic opportunity arise for an individuals to join us here at our Coalville site as a Mechanical Engineering Apprentice. We are laooking for a willing and enthusiastic individual who would like to develop their skills and technical knowledge whilst learning on the job and gaining valuable experience.
This apprenticeship will provide you with the opportunity to work alongside experienced staff and gain job-specific knowledge from their expertise. This opportunity allows you to develop your skills and technical knowledge whilst earning a wage and studying towards a nationally recognised qualification at Stephenson’s College, Coalville.
As a Terex Apprentice, you will be required to complete 20% off-the-job training which will include attending college at allocated times throughout the year and receiving site visits from college assessors to complete the relevant course for your role. Alongside the off-the-job training and any other learning and development required, you will complete daily ‘on the job training’ whilst completing your day-to-day role. You will get experience in the use of a number of our manufacturing machines that are used within the quarrying and recycling industry, and you will learn a variety of engineering techniques, including all aspects of Fabrication, Machine turning and cutting, and Precision Mechanical Fitting.
Responsibilities
As an Apprentice, you will join our Crusher Manufacturing Team and will work closely with the wider workforce. This position offers a great deal of variety.
Throughout your apprenticeship your ‘on the job training’ and role responsibilities will include the following:
Cutting of raw steel using various techniques such as oxy-acetylene, plasma & traditional mechanical saws.
Welding of raw steel components using manual electric arc & high deposition MIG welding equipment
Machining of fabricated components and castings using manual and CNC machining centers to include lathe’s, horizontal & vertical borers and milling machining centers.
Precision measuring & fitting of large bearings using traditional and modern technology
The use of Induction heaters
The use of Liquid Nitrogen
Mechanical Assembly of large components using overhead gantry cranes.
Hydraulic installations & fault finding
Testing of finished products
Applying Lean manufacturing tools & techniques
Working in a team environment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
No previous experience is needed for this role, we are looking for a determined, hardworking and passionate individual who has a willingness to learn.
