Our two University Partners have also declared a climate emergency to support those calling for urgent action and to show commitment to leading the change required. To allow us to achieve our ambitions in this area we are looking to recruit a
Project Officer (Carbon) to work across our Penryn and Falmouth Campuses.
This role will support the Carbon & Energy Manager in delivering the carbon reduction programme across the 2 University Campuses and you will focus on supporting the delivery of carbon reduction projects and specific packages of work on site.
The role will be an important interface with a range of stakeholders (both within FX Plus, the Universities and externally) in the delivery of key projects /packages of work and will coordinate contractors’ site activities for those working on carbon projects, including arranging access and permits, and undertaking site visits and inspections.
The successful candidate will identify, pre-empting where possible, potential roadblocks to the completion of the projects on the estate and campus infrastructure. You will ensure documentation and administrative functions needed to support projects are effectively carried out, including arranging project review meetings, change control procedures, contractor site access, hand-over and commissioning information, etc.
Typical carbon reduction projects this role will support are likely to include PV systems, wind turbines, installing electric vehicle charging points, BMS optimization, LED lighting and heat decarbonisation works including heat pumps.
Reporting into the Carbon & Energy Manager within the Estates Directorate, the successful candidate will have a professional outlook and be able to support the delivery of carbon reduction and energy efficiency projects. The successful candidate will require excellent communication skills as liaising with, and influencing , stakeholders form a key part of this role.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Significant experience using Microsoft Office packages including Word, Outlook and Excel.
- Recent and relevant experience of supporting the delivery of estates, construction and/or carbon reduction projects; from initiation to completion, utilizing recognized project management tools.
- Experience of the implementation of administrative systems and procedures to include financial record keeping and contracts.
- NVQ level 4 or equivalent qualification in project management / administration; or equivalent relevant work-based experience.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, negotiate and communicate effectively with colleagues and a range of internal and external stakeholders on all levels.
- Confident, enthusiastic and positive approach but also resilient under pressure.

This post is offered on a 37.5 hour a week, full time, permanent position working across Monday-Friday. The role is predominantly site-based at the Penryn Campus in Cornwall but can accommodate flexible hybrid working on occasion.
