Clinical Assistant

Newmedica is one of the leading providers of NHS ophthalmology services in England, providing outpatients appointments, diagnostic testing and eye surgery. We have an exciting opportunity that has arisen in our Norwich team, for a Clinical Assistant to join the team and help us continue to deliver outstanding clinical care for our patients.


We are looking for someone who will thrive on working as part of a multidisciplinary team that includes Clinic Assistants, Ophthalmic Assistants, Patient Administrators, Nurses, ODPs, Ophthalmic Technicians, Optometrists, and Consultant Ophthalmologists.   • A competitive salary of £22,672.00 FTE, dependant on experience.

What will the role involve?

Our Clinical Assistants play an essential role in the smooth running of clinics, as well as providing administrative support within theatres in order to maintain exceptional levels of care for our patients. You will be responsible for performing a range of diagnostic and clinical tests to provide our consultants with the relevant information for diagnosis and treatment. This role will involve full training with our team of Healthcare Administrators, to support with administration tasks when required. Administration tasks will involve ensuring appointments are booked and clinics are full, recording and filing clinical outcomes and utilising electronic patient records.


What skills & experience do I need for the role?

  • Previous experience working with patients, carers or customers with a passion for providing exceptional standards of care/customer service.
  • Highly organised with the ability to multitask and keen attention to detail.
  • Enjoys working with a range of people and can tailor approach to a diversity of patient needs.
  • The ability to work on own initiative and escalate matters when appropriate.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including telephone etiquette.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office products and ability to learn new patient record systems.
