About the Role
We are looking for a Financial Accountant to provide day-to-day financial management support to the business, whilst providing practical solutions for continuous improvement to maintain order and transparency for the company’s finances.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ownership of the Accounts Payable function from PO through to supplier payment
- Year-end accounts
- Annual budgeting
- Monthly entity reporting (in line with FRS)
- Ownership of all accruals and prepayments
- Monthly P&L management accounts and full balance sheet reconciliation
- Banking lead, including cash management and associated bank reconciliations
- Payroll
- Budgeting/forecasting of balance sheet and cash forecasts in line with P&L
- HMRC VAT returns
- HMRC R&D Tax Rebate submission
- Lead on the internal accountancy system (Moving from QuickBooks to a leading replacement system)
- Management of Accounts Assistant/Office Administrator
About You:
Essential skills and experience
- Qualified with a suitable relevant qualification (e.g. CIMA, ACA, ACCA)
- Methodical with a high attention to detail and a passion for delivering complete, accurate and timely financial information
- Management or team leadership experience
- High levels of accuracy and the ability to instil the same in a team
- Experience using QuickBooks
- Experience playing a key role in an external audit
- Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge and the ability to use formulae to process large quantities of data
- Self-motivated with a passion for delivering quality output
- A proactive, solutions focused “can-do” attitude; willing to work with persistence and enthusiasm in suggesting and implementing solutions to business problems
- Thrives on working in a fast-paced environment
- An aptitude towards working with financial business systems and a willingness to be heavily involved with the ownership of systems
