Your role
Are you an advocate for operational Risk and enthusiastic about creating long-term positive impact for clients, employees, investors and society as a whole, particularly in response to Climate Change? Are you willing to play a role helping UBS tackle the risks and opportunities of the sustainability and climate challenge?
We’re looking for an Operational Risk Specialist to act as a compliance and operational risk control (C&ORC) subject-matter expert for key developing topics acting across Climate Change, Net Zero, Biodiversity and the UBS Carbon Ecosystem to help facilitate the effective integration of Climate, Carbon and Nature requirements into the Non-Financial Risk (‘NFR’) control framework.
The range of work will be diverse and will include:
- Working as part of the broader project team and with other control functions, (regulatory, legal and group sustainability and impact teams) on implementation of TCFD recommendations globally (and other regulations and guidelines over time)
- Providing internal challenge of the strategic developments of our ‘Carbon Ecosystem’ service offerings, e.g. through dedicated taxonomy assessment or thematic reviews
- Undertaking targeted analysis of regulatory requirements including initial gap and impact assessment on UBS Operational and Compliance Risk framework and control coverage model
- Pro-actively monitoring and stay up to date on latest developments in the areas of climate- and carbon-related activities across industry, policy, regulation, disclosure and reporting
- Help determining if and how our key control processes need to be changed to reflect the new requirements and plan the implementation of changes with a front-to-back view
- Supporting internal project activities and internal/external audit and associated regulatory audit as directed
Your team
You will be working in the GCRG Sustainability Crew, a small agile squad responsible for coordinating sustainability-related Non-Financial Risk activities across GCRG and more broadly across UBS including our engagement within GCRG with our business-aligned C&ORC functions, other UBS control functions and the Group Sustainability and Impact organisation.
Your expertise
- Some knowledge of Climate Change issues in general and familiarity with key evolving regulations and industry ‘roadmap’ guidance (e.g. TCFD, BCBS)
- An interest in extending and continually developing subject matter expertise from Climate to Carbon, Net Zero and Nature-related / Biodiversity considerations
- A good understanding of the construction and maintenance of operational and compliance risk management frameworks and compliance rule maps
- Ideally a working knowledge of UBS main business lines and operations to assist in steering the right understanding of the potential impact of Climate and Carbon-related risks
- Ability to build relationships and trust across a global organization, working independently and with the team, and to present well to internal and external stakeholders
- Project delivery or project management support experience is beneficial
- A self-starter with drive, motivation and a ‘can-do’ attitude and a desire to drive change in the organization
- Detail orientated with structured, organized, methodical planning skills
