The Diocese of Blackburn is seeking to appoint a proactive, organised and skilled people-person to the role of Director of Education. This role is the senior officer primarily responsible for leading on the delivery of Diocese of Blackburn’s Vision 2026 through work with schools, universities, children and young people (The inspiring children and young people vision strand).
You will lead an experienced team and be accountable to the Board of Education. As a senior leader you will form part of the diocesan senior team under the Diocesan Bishop.

Building on the high standards of service and support provided to our 189 church schools/academies

The successful candidate will have:

A passion for living out the gospel through serving schools and parishes

A clear vision for how to enable children and young people to see something of God’s Kingdom

Experience of working within the education sector

A clear understanding of national educational policy

An understanding of the culture of the Church of England

An ability to work effectively with a variety of people and build strong relationships
