The Tizard Centre, within the School of Social Policy, Sociology and Social Research has an excellent opportunity for a Research Assistant to be involved in a large scale research project: Harmful Sexual Behaviour - Intellectual and Developmental Disability (HaSB-IDD), funded by the National Institute for Health Research.
This position is to cover a period of maternity leave and as such the successful candidate will be joining the project at a midpoint. The post holder will carry out high quality research as part of a large research team, utilising their experience in working with people with intellectual and /or developmental disabilities to collect data from men and their carers in a variety of sites across England and Wales and disseminate research findings.
As a Research Assistant, you will:

Carry out high quality research on the HaSB-IDD project, as part of a large research team, and contribute to the research and development activity in the Tizard Centre

Assist in qualitative and quantitative research, including helping to prepare, setup, conduct the research and contribute to writing the reports

Assist in undertaking of literature reviews and database searches

Make use of standard research techniques, including standardized questionnaires, and other methods

Contribute to publications, research reports and dissemination
To be successful in this role you will have/be:

Educated to degree level (or equivalent) with a BSc in Psychology, or related discipline / equivalent experiences

Good understanding of UK health and social care services

Experience with working with people with intellectual and /or developmental disabilities

Knowledge and experience of a range of study designs and associated methodologies (e.g. Quantitative and Qualitative Research Methodologies)

Knowledge of Mental Capacity Act and experience of seeking informed consent in research
