The selection process will comprise of the sift (CV & application review) and an interview. Arrangements for the interview will be enclosed in the invitation.

An initial sift based on criteria 1, 2 and 3 (Lead Criteria) may be held if a large number of applications are received. If your application progresses to a full sift, all elements of the essential criteria listed under Person Specification of the role profile will then be considered.
Please note that it is essential that your personal statement is aligned to provide evidence that you have the knowledge and experience for each of the following selection criteria (as included on the role profile) in your application:
1) Degree educated (2:2 or above) or evidence of an equivalent high level academic or professional achievement (Lead Criteria)
2) Significant knowledge and practical experience of working in one or more of the following areas: UK and EU competition or consumer law, regulatory law or state aid casework, together with knowledge and appreciation of applicable public law. (Lead Criteria)
3) An excellent record of team working, sharing knowledge effectively and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders of varying seniority levels (Lead Criteria)
4) Excellent research skills, ability to conduct effective, thorough and user-friendly research via several methods including face to face meetings, showing an ability to make effective use of electronic and other sources of information while supporting cases within defined resources and strict timescales.
5) Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, including significant experience delivering high quality analysis, providing research papers, report writing and contributing to policy.
6) Knowledge of information resources including databases, news suppliers, journals and books relevant to the CMA’s functions.
The role will close 11.55pm Monday 27th March 2023.
The sift will take place 28th - 31st March 2023.
If your application is successful, you will be invited to attend an interview. You will be notified via email to log-in to your Civil Service Account and book your interview slot. You will be sent an email with full details of your arrangements for interview.
Interviews will be held over two days - 17th April 2023 and 20th April 2023 . There is 1 interview stage for this role.
The interview will be a 45-60-minute panel interview where you will be asked questions based on the Behaviours, Experience and Technical skills outlined in the role profile.
The first part of interview will be a presentation, the topic of which will be sent to you a week before the interview.
