JOB DESCRIPTION
InstaDeep is seeking a Research Intern to join our Research Team in London working on the intersection of quantum computing (QC) and machine learning (ML). As an intern, you will be contributing to research projects in collaboration with InstaDeep’s research team and industry partners. Potential topics include the development of quantum algorithms, machine learning for quantum error mitigation and control, machine learning methods for quantum chemistry computation. Interns in the Research Team regularly publish at top conferences and journals.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the efforts of the Quantum Machine Learning team through the development of novel methods and applications under the guidance of our Research Team.
- Design and implement experiments for proof of concept and benchmarking.
- Contribute to team research and publications.
- Report and present experimental results and research findings, both internally and externally, verbally and in writing.
- Upon request, collaborate with other groups’ activities, including but not limited to presenting the company to new prospective clients, participating in calls and meetings, and representing Instadeep in conferences/events.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Currently enrolled in a PhD programme (or recent graduate) in a STEM discipline.
- At least one of the following required, more than one is a plus:
- Experience in developing and benchmarking quantum algorithms
- Demonstrated understanding of quantum mechanics, and quantum information theory
- Experience in running quantum chemistry computations
- Research experience in quantum error mitigation, quantum error correction, or quantum noise model characterisation
- Experience in running reinforcement learning algorithms, or some extensive experience in machine learning
- Experience in implementing algorithms on actual quantum devices, with experience using pulse level controls being a plus
- One or more publications (or arXiv pre-prints) related to the research topics listed above
- Programming experience with Python is required, with further experience in packages such as qiskit, pennylane, jax, pyscf desirable.
- Work permit for the UK for the duration of the internship.
