There are two buildings on our Murdostoun site: a brain injury rehabilitation unit and a neurological care unit.
Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre
We provide individualised assessment and intensive rehabilitation for up to 46 patients to help people recover from a brain injury. At all times we work to achieve the best possible outcomes in terms of independence and quality of life. The site is part of the wider Active Care Group Neuro Network (consisting of 25+ sites) nationally and we focus on the use of clinical expertise, innovation and technology to meet patient’s expectations of rehabilitation goals.
We most commonly assess and admit patients who are in the very early stages of recovery from a brain injury. These patients are normally admitted from a NHS hospital. We also assess and treat people who have been living with a brain injury for some time, but due to a change in their situation, would benefit from some treatment.
Our team are also experienced in managing associated needs, such as specialist spasticity management, PEG feeds and skin integrity problems.
We also provide cognitive rehabilitation, functional retraining and Sensory Modality Assessment and Rehabilitation (SMART) assessment if needed.
