About the role & the Data Analytics team
CDP’s Data Analytics Team is looking for a skilled, enthusiastic, and ambitious Junior Data Analyst – Acquisition who is passionate to use data to drive companies, investors, and governments to build a thriving economy which works for people and planet.
You will work across several projects to gather, manage, and improve data acquired by CDP. This work supports key internal stakeholders as well as the Data, Insight & Disclosure department at CDP. You will also be documenting 3rd party data and managing robust processes for organizing this documentation.
The role sits within the Data Analytics team which comprises of more than 20 analysts working across CDP to deliver innovative analytical services and data products for Capital Markets, Cities, States and Regions and Supply Chain clients, as well as other internal and external stakeholders. In collaboration with the team, you will help develop and deliver exciting analytical projects and new data products.
Key responsibilities include:
- Gathering and managing data from 3rd party data sources and vendors.
- Ensuring timely and appropriate management of data licenses and invoices.
- Understanding data needs across the Data Analytics team and across CDP.
- Researching potential new sources for data to further improve modelling and analytical capabilities.
- Supporting team with manual and automated data collection from websites, reports and databases.
- Maintaining and improving currency conversion data and scripts.
- Supporting colleagues in the use of 3rd party data and making better decisions from this data.
- Documenting 3rd party data sources for internal management.
Required/desired skills and experience:
- At least 1 year of data analysis experience using R/Python using relevant functions e.g. (Pandas, Beautiful soup, Scrapy, Tidyverse, Tidy web scraping, rvest)
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- Experience with SQL.
- Applied data cleaning and data wrangling skills.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Strong numeracy and statistical skills.
Additional things we would be happy to see:
- An understanding of GHG accounting methods and ESG data.
- Familiarity with GitHub or other code repository/version control tools.
- Data visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- An awareness of environmental issues, particularly as they relate to our core themes of Climate Change, Deforestation and Water Security.
- Knowledge of the financial system and capital markets.
This is a permanent, full-time role based at CDP’s London office reporting to the Senior Data Analyst – Water & Forests.
Salary and benefits: £30,000 – 32,000 per annum, 30 days holiday excluding bank holidays, generous non-contributory pension provision, annual discretionary bonus (depending on company performance), Employee Assistance Program, life assurance, training and development, flexible working opportunities, and others.
