Job Description

THE ROLE - Full-time (37.5 hours per week) / Permanent / Job description and application pack (including details on our benefits) are available to download from our website

CLOSING DATE - 30 March 2023 at midnight. Please note we will be interviewing successful candidates on a rolling basis and as such may close the vacancy before the deadline

YMCA Guildford Foyer provides high quality support and accommodation to 34 young people, ages 16-25. The role is challenging, yet rewarding and includes several key responsibilities. You will support a caseload of young people or adults at risk, using a trauma informed and advantage thinking approach to support them in achieving their goals. You will enable young people to articulate and achieve their ambitions and support residents to acquire skills they need to lead independent, fulfilling lives. A key focus will be coaching young people to manage their occupancy agreement and adhere to house rules, promoting a credit culture and encouraging young people to keep up to date with all payments for rent.

This role is on a rolling rota, working 5 days in 7 days, consisting of two shifts 8am-4pm and 2pm-10pm including weekends and bank holidays. You will get to know the project, along with extensive training prior to starting on a rota.

ABOUT YOU - We know that there are great candidates who will not fit everything described, or who have important skills we have not mentioned. If that is you, please do not hesitate to apply and tell us about yourself

A successful applicant will be passionate about supporting young people to lead independent lives, enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, have a sense of humour and the drive to deliver an outstanding service. You will be able to facilitate a process of development that allows the young person to take the lead in identifying actions and goals, along with learning about the key risks, challenges, and opportunities for our client group. Ideally, you will have experience of working with young people leaving care and an awareness of all aspects of safeguarding.
