Overview:
Harrow Council is looking for four Social Workers to join their Adults Social Care division.
The post holders will be required to provide a social work service to people and their carers, ensuring that a strengths-based approach is used to empower the person / carer and connect them to their community. In addition, you will identify the needs and desired outcomes with people and carers and give choice and control over the delivery of services whilst promoting independence, in accordance with current legislation, and with the policy and practice of the local authority.
Tasks include working with all agencies in a multi-disciplinary way, to ensure the best co-ordination and efficient delivery of services to people, operating within delegated budgets and contributing to the learning of other staff and students.
The post holder is expected to work across the geographical area of Harrow and within any of the teams in the directorate therefore a full UK driving license and use of vehicle for business purposes is desirable.
About you:
The successful candidate will have:

A working knowledge of relevant legislation e.g., Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005 etc, government guidance regarding safeguarding etc and including welfare benefits.

Knowledge of a range of interventions and services provided by social services and other agencies including the private and voluntary sector.

Knowledge and understanding of discriminated against groups and the ability to ensure that services are appropriately delivered to meet their needs.

Ability to achieve positive change through a strength- based approach to problem solving, whilst building empathic and supportive relationships with people and carers.

Ability to demonstrate they can structure own time and to prioritise competing demands to ensure all essential work is completed.

Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to produce and use workload information and acquire skills to use IT systems as available.

Experience of working with people with physical/learning / sensory disabilities or older people and their carers.
An appropriate qualification i.e. BA in Social Work, DIPSW, CQSW, CSS or equivalent.

Registration with Social Work England.
Willingness and ability to undertake duties outside of conventional office hours as and when necessary.
