Job description:- Post of Receptionist
Receptionist for a Veterinary Practice. 33 hour week, two shifts, alternate Saturdays, must be able to work either shift and be willing to do overtime as and when necessary. Some animal handling. Must have a good telephone manner, be able to type and use Word for Windows as secretarial duties involved. Must be organised, be able to multitask and handle working in a busy practice and work well with others.
RESPONSIBILITIES: General reception duties to include answering the telephone and dealing with client queries and making appointments. Maintaining client record cards, dealing with consent forms and payment of bills, balancing till and banking slips. Cleaning duties are expected to be undertaken by reception staff in the consulting rooms and waiting room area.
Dealing with suppliers, chasing ordered items. Typing of letters for the veterinary surgeons, filing of letters and reports.
You will also be responsible for maintaining the reception area and consulting rooms together with printing of client information leaflets. There may be times when you will be required to assist the veterinary surgeon with handling of animals, including for Euthanasia. Due to the nature of the job, cleaning up after animals is also required.
HOURS: The job is based on a 33 hour week (excluding lunch hours) plus overtime as required and there are two rotas operated between 8am and 7pm. Alternative Saturdays are worked (9am to 2pm).
WAGES: The salary will be Dependent upon age.
Under 18 years of age £ 250.00/ week
18-20 years of age £ 290.00/ week
21-24 years of age £ 340.00/ week
Over 25 years of age £ 370.00/ week
The wages are based on a 33 hour working week. Payment of wages is by BACS on the last day of each month, in arrears.
Paid holiday entitlement is 28 working days (to include Bank Holidays). Uniforms are provided and have to be worn.
