Biomedical Scientists required for a number Band 6 positions in the microbiology laboratory of the South West London Pathology Service (SWLP)
The SWLP provides laboratory services to the NHS and private sector laboratories in south London and surrounding area.
The microbiology laboratories, based at St Georges Hospital, use sophisticated automated equipment alongside a wide range of advanced techniques to detect, identify and treat infections and to prevent the spread of infection specialising in:
Bacteriology
Virology
Molecular diagnostics
Mycology
Parasitology
The microbiology laboratories have seen a huge investment in new technology making the laboratory one of the most advanced in the UK and has been visited by private healthcare companies from the UK, Europe, China and Australia as well as other NHS hospitals.
The microbiology department offers:
dedicated operational and clinical support
a fully UKAS accredited laboratory
logistical set up and results reporting to meet your requirements.
Clinical advice service for all diagnostic results is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Covid-19
The virology laboratories have been at the forefront of Covid-19 antibody and antigen testing since the outbreak began in 2020, adapting to methodologies and technologies as they have changed over the course of the pandemic
These excellent opportunities will be offered on a permanent basis and with a very attractive salary and relocation packages including the following:
Band 6 Salary 37,638 - 45,468 inclusive of London location allowance
Relocation package with a value of up to 4,500*, including sign on and loyalty bonus as well as assistance with flights, accommodation and HCPC registration

Interested candidates will hold:
A recognised qualification as Biomedical Scientist
A minimum 1.5 years post graduate experience as a Biomedical Scientist with a significant amount in a microbiology setting.
Eligible for registration with the HCPC as a Biomedical Scientist
