We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and dedicated Clinical Phenotyping Assistant to join the research groups led by Professor Daniel Prieto-Alhambra at the Botnar Research Centre, Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS), Oxford.
You will join an outstanding, multi-disciplinary and friendly group of motivated and cutting-edge researchers, where you will contribute to clinical research by providing technical support in the process of generating clinical descriptions and lists of clinical codes.
As a Clinical Phenotyping Assistant, you will contribute to the identification of clinical (e.g. SNOMED, ICD10) codes likely used for the recording of medical diagnoses in electronic medical records, health claims and similar data. You will be responsible for generating clinical descriptions based on existing medical handbooks and/or online resources and maintaining quality control of this process. You will write and review standard operating procedures related to the processes described above and keep up to date with the necessary information governance training.
You will be undergoing and ideally be near completion of degree in medicine and/or surgery, you will be able to write clinical descriptions based on existing medical knowledge and have a keen interest in academic clinical or data science research. Ability to write up activity logs and results, strong attention to detail and good level of IT skills are essential. Knowledge of R or other programming language is desirable.
This is a part-time (10% FTE) fixed-term appointment for 2 years.
