Apprenticeships are available for anyone over 16 years of age. They offer you the opportunity to earn a wage and work full time in your chosen trade area. This means you develop your skills in a real working environment from day one and are able put the skills you learn at college, directly into practice at work.

We have exciting opportunities for enthusiastic people to join our Engineering Team in Bradford. Here you can learn from the industry’s best, working on major structures such as office blocks to nuclear power stations; hospitals to universities; manufacturing facilities to the rail network.
As an NG Bailey apprentice you will:
- Train at one of the top performing colleges or training providers in the country
- Learn about our award winning approach to working safely
- Be prepared for early starts and travel away from home when necessary
- Develop great working relationships with some of the industry’s most talented people
- Have a strong support network giving you the chance to build your confidence and use your initiative
You will learn to:
- Identify different materials, material grades and uses
- Identify different consumables used on welding machines
- Safely use hand / power tooling relevant to role
- Safely use machinery used in the cutting & preparation process of welding materials
- Safely use Plasma / Oxy – Acetylene cutting equipment
- Read working drawings for various fabrications
- Calculate material cut measures from working drawings
- Assemble materials into various fabrications in line with working drawing
- Setup various welding machines used for various welding processes inc. MIG / MAG, Arc MMA & TIG
- Competently carry out welds using welding machines for various processes inc. MIG / MAG, Arc MMA & TIG
- Understand welding defects and possible causes
- Qualify to various Welding Procedures in line with role

You will attend college to complete Level 2 General Welder. In addition, you will regularly attend in house training and development as part of the programme.

5 GCSEs grade C/4 or above in English Language, Maths, Science and 2 other subjects
