The group operates across many businesses, spanning Ireland, the UK and Continental Europe and consist of 4 separate divisions; ABP Beef, ABP Proteins, ABP Renewables and ABP Pet Foods. ABP have recently acquired Janan Meat Ltd which is one of Europe`s leading providers of British quality lamb and mutton who supply to customers across the UK, EU, Canada UAE, Middle East and beyond.
We currently have a vacancy for a Technical Assurance Officer working Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm. Reporting to the Assistant Technical Manager, this role is to provide administrative and factory support for the technical department, whilst supporting the QA team ensuring the completion of the required audits and process records. This role is vital in supporting the technical team to ensure food safety quality and compliance within an evolving business.
The job holder will also be working within the factory supporting the technical team, customer acceptance and full production whilst ensuring compliance to all policies, codes of practice, legislation and work instructions.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Ensuring that all Food safety, GMP and QC checks are being carried out on the line as specified in work instructions, HACCP and process control documents
- Supporting the QA team through the undertaking of audits, verification of equipment and covering the QA department
- Completing customer questionnaires and specifications
- Assist with external and customer audits, including BRC and Organic
- Ensuring all products produced on site meet the agreed specification.
- Auditing to BRC Level, including GMP, hygiene and CCP audits, verifying corrective actions.
- Ensuring Food Safety and Quality Standards are at the forefront of operations in line with the company strategy
- Calibration and verification and technical equipment
- Undertake traceability exercises where required
- Factory based projects
- Supporting Food Safety Cultures
- Other administrative duties such as Data trending, Report writing, Scanning, Filing
- Holiday cover within the department
- Other duties as required by the role
The role is a combination of office and factory-based tasks to which the proportions are based on business needs.
The role is very team-based, working with the other members to ensure that all tasks are completed within the required time frame .
Qualifications/Experience
- Possess a minimum 2 years’ experience working in quality within the food production industry
- HACCP Level 2 qualified is preferred, but training can be provided where suitable.
- Ideally be internal auditor qualified, or have experience of carrying out auditing and the auditing process within a food manufacturing environment , but training can be provided where suitable.
- Food safety level 2 or 3 qualified , but training can be provided where suitable.
- Possess a really good understanding of the importance of safety and hygiene within the food industry
- Excellent communication skills, the ability to work well at all levels both verbally and with written communication
- IT literate, with the ability to accurate input information into company database relating to supplier audits and client files.
The candidate will enjoy challenging, problem solving roles and be ideally suited to a fast paced environment. The candidate should have good administrative and interpersonal skills and ability to prioritize and multi-task.
This role requires flexibility and a willingness to work additional hours when required to meet customer demand in the preparation of a fresh product.
