About the role
As an AWS Cloud Engineer your role is to be Subject Matter Expert for AWS Cloud Services across VirginMedia O2. You will help implement AWS solutions, provide capability to the business, along with overall support of the platform. Working closely with other ICED team members you will promote consistent and robust usage of AWS Public Cloud. Taking complex requirements designed for use across Public Cloud hyperscalers (AWS, Azure & GCP), and translating them into solutions the business can consume.

As a valued member of ICED team, you'll be responsible for the provisioning and maintenance our AWS platform and its services across the Virgin Media O2 business. You will help deliver our automated provisioning of AWS Landing Zones (accounts) and other cloud native application infrastructure stack using GitOps. Whilst becoming the “go to” AWS SME when building or consuming Public Cloud services in AWS.
The must haves:

“hands on” experience building, configuring and optimising AWS based Cloud Services at scale. This should include workloads that utilise EC2 compute instances, RDS database instances, S3 storage and EKS. Coupled with corresponding ancillary functions such as identity and networking requirements (VPC peering, Transit Gateway, Route53, NAT Gateways, IAM Identity Centre and SCP’s)

Strong understanding and comfortable using core AWS services within an Enterprise AWS Organisation, including Control Tower, CloudTrail, CloudWatch, Guard Duty and Lambda

Acquired 2 or more AWS Associate level certifications (preferred Solutions Architect)

Strong experience of DevOps concepts and deploying CI/CD pipelines using cloud native and third-party tooling – Git, HashiCorp Vault, Ansible, Terraform

Comprehensive skillset in building AWS infrastructures by integrating cloud native services and third-party products

Experience of planning and delivering cloud migration or transformation projects in both green field and brownfield environments
