Programme Lead

Salary: £28,000 per annum

Location: Galashiels, Selkirkshire

Contract/Hours: Permanent - Full-Time - 37 hours per week,

A bit about the role

The Scottish Borders CHIMES Service is divided into 2 areas: working with young carers aged between 7 and 18 years and working with families impacted by alcohol and drugs, specifically parents with substance use issues and the children of those parents who are affected by their substance use.

Our office is based in Galashiels but we cover the whole of the Scottish Borders Council area. The Programme Lead is a supervisory role whereby you will support the service manager and participate in the design and planning, and lead on the implementation of services, ensuring that they are compatible with service objectives.


How you'll help to create brighter futures

  • Leading the delivery of high quality service, based on the agreed model, and required outcomes.
  • Providing direct line management of staff, applying appropriate policies and procedures, also sharing knowledge and experience through coaching and mentoring techniques.
  • Nurture & develop and promote effective relationships and channels of communication with colleagues, partner agencies, employers, and other external agencies to maximise opportunities.
  • Taking the lead on the promotion and marketing of services to achieve set targets and maximise engagement/attainment of service users.
  • Assist the service manager and represent the service at commissioner and stakeholder meetings, to ensure the needs of the programme and professional standing of Action for Children is maintained.
  • Producing and presenting analytical and written reports using data and other sources to report on progress and to improve performance and service delivery.
  • Delivering services within budget and ensure key performance indicators, outcomes and outputs meet payment requirements.
  • Work closely with senior staff and managers to review and evaluate programme provision ensuring continuous improvements are made, driving innovation and business development.
  • Delivering a safe and positive work and service environment through compliance with all safeguarding, safer recruitment and health and safety policy and procedure.

Let's talk about you

  • A management qualification or experience of line managing staff and/or a specific project/programme.
  • Knowledge on designing creative programmes that engage disadvantaged families.
  • Working in a project management approach – planning and monitoring work programme in line with key milestones and targets.
  • Able to engage colleagues, agencies, community groups and families to deliver positive outcomes.
  • An understanding the barriers to families' engagement.
  • Able to be flexible to suit the needs of the service, working some evenings and weekends.
  • To be familiar and confident with a range of IT applications.
