We have an exciting opportunity to join our Production team as a ‘Bakery Operative’ at our Nicholas & Harris site as part of ‘Finsbury Food Group’. Nicholas & Harris has over 180 years of heritage in craft baking methods. If you like artisanal, organic and speciality breads, or have special dietary or nutritional preferences, our Salisbury bakery has you covered!
From baking our high quality products such as Sourdough loafs and hot cross buns, through to packaging them ready for distribution to our major retail partners such as Tesco, ASDA and Sainsbury’s; our Bakery Operatives play a key role. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to gain experience with one of the UK’s largest bakery businesses, along with great opportunities for growth and development. At Finsbury Food Group, we are passionate about investing in our teams, creating great progression opportunities with the potential to increase hourly rate of pay to as much as £11.89 per hour (£14.86 Enhanced Overtime Rate) once training has been completed and signed off.
To be a success in this role, all you need is a can-do attitude, be able to work as part of a team and demonstrate clear communication skills. No previous Bakery experience is required as full training is provided to all of our Bakery Operatives, setting them up for success. All of our applicants will be invited to a site interview which will consist of a Bakery Tour, meeting the management team and completing our English language assessment.
As one of our Bakery Operatives, you’ll be working as part of the wider Operative team to ensure our products are produced to a high quality, ready for distribution to our customers across the country.
We are a 24 hours, 7 days a week operation and you may find yourself working in different sections of the bakery, each playing it’s own vital part of the production process. You will be expected to work closely with colleagues to ensure each area is operating and set-up efficiently for both the current and oncoming shift.
Throughout your day, you will be responsible for accurate completion of paperwork, paying close attention to detail. As a food manufacturer, wastage is an area we must control, so it’s important that all daily tasks are completed efficiently whilst taking ownership of issues and reporting them if they arise to the management team.
You will be expected to comply with all company policy including Health & Safety, Security, Hygiene Standards and cleaning schedules ensuring we are consistently compliant in line with Food Safety Standards.
