The Department of Education are looking to appoint a Health & Safety Officer on a part time (0.6fte), permanent basis.
The post holder will advise the department on all health & safety matters, overseeing the departmental processes for fieldwork and overseas travel by both staff and students. You will be the ‘go to’ person for the department on all health and safety related topics, liaising with University departments as appropriate. You will ensure that the department is compliant on all H&S areas and that we adhere to all health and safety reporting and audit requirements. You will also be the designated DSE assessor, first aider and act as the manual handling assessor for the department.
The successful candidate will be educated to A-Level standard or equivalent and/or have previous experience of working within a Health & Safety role. You will have experience of implementing and reviewing health and safety policies and procedures, and knowledge of best practice in health and safety at work, including risk assessment, and health and safety legislation. You will be a highly organised individual who works accurately with a high level of attention to detail, and possess strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work as part of a team and independently.
