Job Description
Connect it are a growing multi utility company so to help support our success we are looking to expand our Technical Team by recruiting a Technical Trainee/Graduate. This role will support the business by undertaking several support tasks whilst being trained in the varying technical operations such as overseeing a portfolio of gas, water, electric and fibre projects from concept to construction, with a view to work towards a Technical Manager role.
Ideally, a familiarity with the construction or utilities industry, you will be degree educated, with strong organisation, administration and communication skills. You will be guided and trained on all the Connect it operational processes and current legislation and design practices, whilst gaining an understanding of the roles within the wider Technical Team and attending regular meetings with our client base.
Based in our office and warehouse complex in Hedge End, Southampton and reporting to the Technical Manager the role holder will:
- Help to oversee a portfolio of Gas, Water, Electric, Fibre and Electric Vehicle Charging (EVC) projects, driving projects from concept to construction
- Take part in meetings with clients to ensure that communication is maintained and progress is driven
- Work alongside our engineers and design team to ensure that designs are produced timely and as required to meet our clients’ specifications.
- Help with effective and efficient handover of projects to construction colleagues to enable autonomous delivery.
- Engage with Utility Companies and stakeholders to seek permissions for connections, engineering difficulties and other collaborative activities.
- Pick up an understanding of utility legal processes and engage in conversations with our clients to drive forward legal completions.
- Provide support to the estimating and design team for complex schemes.
- Support the business in their transition to ISO standards.
- Maintain your own industry knowledge, awareness and continue to develop professionally.
- Support the business in its growth, taking on new responsibilities and duties.
You will have:
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- A can-do attitude that will support tasks as the business develops
- Time Management skills that allow effective prioritisation
- Strong organisational, administrative and IT skills
- A methodical, efficient and results driven approach
- Good verbal and written communication
- A strong attention to detail
In addition, you will preferably have:
- Degree/HNC/HND education
- AutoCAD use for viewing and reviewing drawings
