Reporting to the Fleet Programme Manager, you will plan and deliver a programme of small to large-scale projects that will meet business objectives and implement positive change across our Operations, Fleet and Safety departments. You will manage resource requirements and use good project management and business processes to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and to budget.
Engaging a range of key stakeholders across Operations, Fleet and Safety functions, and the wider business will be central to your role. We are looking for someone who prioritises great communication, is comfortable with influencing and negotiating to gain stakeholder buy-in and uses a highly collaborative approach to deliver successful outcomes.
As Lead Project Manager, you will:
Plan and deliver projects within your assigned programme, managing project milestones and budgets against EMR’s annual business plan and franchise contract-
Use good project management practices and business processes to deliver the programme, reporting on progress and using escalation paths as required

Manage all programme resource requirements; delegating workload and escalating requirements to the Fleet Programme Manager as required

Ensure all projects are supported by robust project documentation (e.g. business cases, project plans, risk and issue registers, budgets and reports), change management and disruption plans

Engage regularly with internal and external programme stakeholders throughout planning and delivery phases

Ensure projects are delivered safely, without compromising business operational, occupational or engineering safety management

Oversee project closure and reporting processes in successful transition to BAU
To be successful in this role you will be:

Strong Lead Project Management experience, across all core disciplines (including developing business cases, project planning, stakeholder management, budget management, risk management, resource management and maintaining project documentation).

A great all-round communicator, verbal and written

Experienced in managing a programme of projects, ideally in an operational or safety environment; rail industry preferred but not essential

Knowledgeable in core project management disciplines to a project lead standard

Educated to degree level, ideally with a project management qualification (e.g. APM, Prince 2), or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience

Adaptable, can work alone and as part of a team

Computer literate, with ability to use MS Office

A self-starter, who can build and influence stakeholder relationships across all levels of the business to achieve results

EMR has a hybrid working policy which is applicable for this role. This means the role can be based at home 2-3 days per week and in the office 2-3 days per week. Should you wish to work full time in the office, this is also an option.
