Are you looking for a new and exciting opportunity? We require someone who is motivated, enthusiastic, flexible and keen to join the Ophthalmic team at Kettering General Hospital.
We are a very busy and expanding department with exciting opportunities to develop within your role.
We require a full time Health Care Assistant to join our friendly team. Part time job share would be considered. The successful applicant will rotate around the department working in the ophthalmic theatre, the eye outpatient clinic and on Spencer ward. On completion of departmental training, NVQ3 and the successful completion of all relevant competences, there will be developmental opportunities to become a band 3 Ophthalmic Technician.
We also cover Nene park and Corby Diagnostic Centre therefore, you will also be required to cover the outreach clinics on a rotational basis once you have been trained and gained all your competencies.
You must be able to work within a team environment and have the ability to work using your own initiative. This post covers 7 days (Monday to Sunday). Full training programme will be given to successful applicant.
- To assist and support registered staff in the delivery of high quality,
individualised, dignified and compassionate care to patients.
- To contribute to the effective running of the department by concentrating on
tasks that directly support the needs of the patient and assists their journey,
prioritising on patients as required.
- To always work under the supervision of a registered healthcare practitioner, working within the parameters of their competence, communicating and documenting appropriate and relevant information to other members of the multi-disciplinary team in a professional timely manner.
- The ability to always work to a high standard, influencing and role modelling patient centred care.
- To monitor patient condition using vital signs and escalating to the Registered Nurse any abnormalities. To accurately/legibly document care delivery within the patients Nursing notes. To assist the Registered Nurse in effective pre- and post-operative care and delivery. The use of effective communication skills through by treating patients with empathy and dignity.
- To have the opportunity to become Band 3 Technician after the completion of NVQ level 3 and Ophthalmology competencies.
