The role
We are recruiting for a People, Regional Business Partner, on a fixed term contract basis to cover maternity leave. The role is field based, with frequent travel throughout the Northern Region, typically 3 days out per week in the region. Plus national travel between 6 to 12 occasions a year, depending on the business needs.
Reporting to the Head of Business Partnering the Regional Business Partner is responsible for delivery of a people centric HR service within an assigned region, aligned to the employer value proposition and people strategy. Using insight, technology, data and intelligence to support people related decision making and identify pioneering people initiatives which drive advocacy within the assigned region.
The role is responsible for delivery of people initiatives, transformative change and ensuring that HR administration, employee data and management information reporting is structured and communicated with relevant stakeholders within the region.
The role will also lead and manage a small team of People Advisors, with remote support from a People Administrator.
Successful delivery of the People Strategy takes place across the entire People Team. This role will be required to work collaboratively with the wider People team to ensure the People Strategy is delivered and embedded.
Key accountabilities
- Management of the regional people advisory and administration team to deliver a customer focussed consultative HR service, aligned to employer value proposition and the people strategy.
- Business Partner to key stakeholders, including executives, in the region. Identify HR priorities and objectives in order to meet the operational and strategic needs of the region. Partnering with the business to:
- Deliver retention, wellbeing, and diversity & inclusion initiatives.
- Ensure the business holds effective performance conversations.
- Manage promotions, reward and recognition, talent, and succession planning initiatives. Calibrate and moderate these processes to ensure consistency and fairness.
- Oversee all employee relation issues to ensure the employee value proposition is maintained and risks to the business are minimised. Ensure a member of the People Partnering team is present in all appropriate employee relation meetings.
- Deliver organisational design, change, acquisition, TUPE initiatives.
- Ensure the business structure meets the requirements of current and future operational and customer demands.
- Support the business to review engagement survey results, conduct exit interviews, identify focus areas and create action plans. Understand key trends and feed these into the people strategy.
- Coach and develop senior stakeholders and people managers in relation to HR policies, practices, and processes.
- Ensure the team maintain accurate HR records, provide efficient administrative services, employee data is captured, analysed and trends identified. Use people data to analyse patterns and trends and produce data driven insights that inform decisions on key people issues.
- Develop meaningful working relationships with stakeholders and participate and contribute to regular stakeholder meetings. Coach and support the team to develop their relationships within the region.
- Work in partnership with other Regional Business Partners provide a seamless service to Senior Management.
- Support the Innovation and Development Team with the design of people initiatives.
- Work in partnership with wider People Team deliver a seamless and unrivalled employee experience.
- Coach and develop the advisors and administrators in the team. Support and encourage them to continually improve their service.
- Act as an ambassador for the People Team and ETEL’s values and behaviours at all times.
Skills & experience
- Comfortable with travel within region.
- Experience in a business partnership role, managing complex employee relation cases.
- A comprehensive knowledge of good HR practices.
