Nursery: Bright Horizons Crawley Day Nursery and Preschool

Job Type: P ermanent / Full Time / 40 Hours

Salary: £27,560 - £37,850 per annum + benefits to include high street discounts!

We are currently offering a welcome bonus for this vacancy of up to £1,500 (Term's and Conditions apply)

If you hold a full and relevant Level 3 or above Early Years qualification, are passionate about inspiring and leading a team to deliver outstanding care and education to children, and want to be part of a high performing nursery management team – our Deputy Manager opportunity would be perfect for you.

Why Bright Horizons?

We care for over 10,000 children across the UK, across our portfolio of over 300 nurseries, 98% of which are rated Good or Outstanding by Ofsted. We’re on a mission to change the future for children, families, and the people we work with, and are committed to progressive working values like flexibility, work-life balance, and wellbeing.

Our 92-place nursery is proudly Ofsted rated ‘Good’, full equipped with age-appropriate rooms spread across two floors. Our nursery also features a fantastic outdoor garden, complete with a tree house and climbing wall! We also have our very own cookery studio!

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead, mentor and inspire a team to deliver exceptional care and education to all children in our care

  • Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead at the nursery, holding overall responsibility for the day to day running of the nursery and management of safeguarding and child protection policies - monitoring and improving practice and behaviours that underpin our high performance safety culture

  • In collaboration with the Nursery Manager, contribute to succession planning, identification and delivery of relevant training, and supporting professional development plans, including coaching and mentoring for all colleagues.

  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with colleagues, parents and/or carers, as well as other professionals, to meet the needs of each child

  • Promote the nursery to both current parents, and potential customers, to support retention and ongoing occupancy growth

  • Ensure commercial success of the nursery by maintaining expenditure inline FTEs and budget KPIs

  • Engage with the Local Authority to understand the local offer, to support practice in all areas of the nursery

What we can offer you

Our benefits include, but are not limited to;

  • £27,560 - £37,850 (dependant on qualification/s and experience)

  • Career development opportunities across our network of nurseries

  • Amazing discounts, ranging from childcare to high-street, to utility and days out!

  • Quarterly Employee Appreciation Weeks – with treats for all the team

  • External helpline with professional counsellors – supporting your wellbeing 24 hours a day.

  • Access to our extensive library of training and qualifications, to support your continuous development

What we’re looking for

  • Full and Relevant Level 3 or above Early Years qualification

  • Experience within an Early Years leadership role (ideally as a Deputy Manager, Assistant Manager, Third in Charge or similar)

  • Experience of participating with a regulatory inspection, leading to a “Good” or “Outstanding” outcome

  • Confident decision maker, with previous experience providing support and leadership to others to enable staff in fulfilling their roles and responsibilities

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding, Child Protection, and the wider legislative requirements for working with children

  • Ability to build trust and strong working relationships with both colleagues and parents

  • Ability to use a variety of techniques to clearly and successfully communicate with both children and adults

This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check.

Because of the nature of this job, it will be necessary for the appropriate level of criminal record disclosure to be undertaken. Therefore, it is essential in making your application that you disclose any information requested in respect of applicable convictions and cautions (including, as applicable any reprimands or final warnings). This post may be exempt from the provisions of Section 4 (2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, in which case applicants are not entitled to withhold information about convictions which for other purposes are ‘spent’ under the provision of the Act unless the conviction or caution is “protected” as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2013). Any such ‘protected’ conviction or caution is not subject to disclosure to employers, and cannot be taken into account. All guidance and criteria on the filtering of these cautions and convictions can be found in the DBS filtering collection, available here: https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/dbs-filtering-guidance . The fact that a pending charge, conviction, caution, reprimand or final warning has been recorded against you will not necessarily debar you from consideration for this role but any failure to disclose any such information will result in dismissal or disciplinary action.
