Are you a motivated supply chain specialist looking for your next career move? We have an exciting opportunity at Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) to join our Chinook supply chain team.
Gosport is the maintenance hub for Chinook helicopters. You will be working alongside our Depth Support Team consisting of Engineers and Military Personnel and industry partners where you will have the chance to understand the real-world impact your role within the Chinook delivery team makes to our front line.
As part of our team, you will deliver Supply Chain activities contributing to operational success across Item Data Management, Customer Demand Planning, Inventory Supply Planning, Supplier Management, Supply Chain Performance Management, and Inventory Disposals.
This is a fast-paced opportunity that supports supply chain activities at Gosport. You will manage equipment that is essential for the maintenance and serviceability of Chinook helicopters, ensuring inventory is ordered and delivered on time. Working closely with our industry partners, you’ll use skills in collaboration, problem-solving and time management to ensure a high-quality service is delivered. You will maintain a strong working relationship with internal and external stakeholders and champion best practice for an efficient supply chain.
We will ensure that you receive the training to develop your skill sets, grow your technical expertise and gain the experience to equip you for a successful career in supply chain management, working on exciting and meaningful projects that support the UK’s armed forces.
The position is full-time, 100% site based, with some flexible working. You may be required to undertake occasional travel to Bristol and Hook. Travel and subsistence costs will be covered.
About the role
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the:
- Item Data Records are created and maintained on the MOD Logistic Information Systems for agreed ranges of equipment.
- Inventory Demand and Supply plans are developed and executed, within Financial Delegation limits to optimise inventory.
- Monitoring of inventory levels and investigating, reconciling, and adjusting accounting discrepancies.
- Analysing and reporting on inventory performance against key performance indicators and suggesting routes for improvement.
- Managing and coordinating of stakeholders across delivery teams, contractors, defence agencies and customers.
- Identification of continuous improvement initiatives to deliver efficiencies.
Person specification
To be successful with your application, you'll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria:
- Experience of working in a supply chain environment or with critical asset management.
- Experience of optimised demand and supply planning activities.
- Demonstrable customer focus and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to make decisions, often in the face of multiple competing priorities.
- Intermediate IT skills and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
It would also be great if you can demonstrate any of the following desirable criteria:
- Supply Chain affiliated membership with a professional body e.g., CILT/CIPS.
- Experience using Logistic Information Systems.
