City and Guilds 706 - 1 & 2 or equivalent qualification (achieved or working towards)
Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
Experience
· Good communication skills
· Team player
· Ability to work on own initiative
· Previous management / supervisory experience
· Experience of food preparation for the relevant client group
Key Responsibilities
To work with the document ‘Safer Food – Better Business’.
Ensure HACCP’s processes are followed, recorded as required.
Food Preparation:
Prepare, cook and serve hot and cold meals as and when required.
Provide for special dietary requirements where necessary and take into account the preferences of individual clients.
Ensure menu ordering system is correctly filled out and signed.
Maintain accurate records of food supplies and freezer / fridge temperatures.
Communication:
Assist in planning / costing menus in order to provide a balanced nutritious diet, making the best use of available fresh foods.
Participate in staff and client meetings as required.
Ensure menus are displayed showing choices in various formats.
Budgetary / Financial Control:
Ensure stock rotation. Assist in the ordering of stock and checking deliveries, check and value stock as required by the Registered Manager and Head Chef.
Training and Development:
Supervise and instruct Kitchen Staff Members in the use of all equipment and hygiene procedures, giving help and guidance where appropriate.
Maintain and improve professional knowledge and competence.
Attend mandatory training days/courses, on or off site, as and when required.
General:
Promote a positive personal / professional profile within the local community, ensuring the good reputation of the care home at all times.
Ensure that all information of confidential nature gained in the course of duty is not divulged to third parties.
Notify the Head Chef or the person in charge, as soon as possible of your inability to report for duty, and also on your return to work from all periods of absence.
Ensure the security of the care home is maintained at all times.
Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
Ensure all equipment is clean and well maintained.
Carry out any other tasks that may be reasonably assigned to you.
Deputise for Head Chef in their absence.

To be successful in this position you will have worked in a kitchen as a Deputy Chef to the Head Chef, able to manage a kitchen and staff in the absence of the Head Chef. You do not have to had worked in a residential nursing home and if it is something you want to do and create a strong career path then do not hesitate to apply.

The kitchen department is looking for an enthusiastic, reliable, and fun kitchen assistant to work closely with the other kitchen assistants, chef and head chef to assist in organising and controlling the efficient and economic production of quality food with whilst maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
There are a range of duties as a kitchen assistant which are not limited to:
· Prepare, cook, and serve hot and cold meals as and when required with particular attention to correct menu orders and signature,
· Provide for special dietary requirements where necessary and take into account the preferences of individual residents,
· Wash up after meals and ensure all crockery and equipment is cleaned and stored appropriately, and that the overall cleaning of the kitchen area (and where appropriate, the dining areas) is carried out effectively,
· Understand and ensure the implementation of the care home’s Health & Safety policy, Emergency and Fire procedures and COSHH,
· Ensure stock rotation, order stock, check deliveries and check and value stock as required,
· Build relationships with residents to their likes and dislikes and understand their needs.
