Are you interested in pursuing a professional career in environmental health, working to protect and improve the health of the public?
We are offering an apprenticeship within our Environmental Health Services to study for a fully funded BSc (Hons) degree in environmental health whilst gaining the necessary work experience. You will study a degree level qualification at university commencing September 2023. On days when not attending taught classes you will work in the team supporting all the environmental health functions. These include environmental protection, food safety, health and safety at work, licensing, and housing standards.
Building on the taught knowledge of the degree, you will develop the practical skills to do the job of an Environmental Health Officer while learning from and supporting experienced professionals. Upon successful completion of the four-year degree programme, you will have the opportunity to gain professional status as an Environmental Health Practitioner.
It will be a condition of any employment offer that you are accepted onto the degree programme, for which you will require a minimum of 104 UCAS points (or equivalent). Support will be provided to liaise with the university for the application.
More information about environmental health and the profession is available in this link: https://www.cieh.org/what-is-environmental-health/
We will be holding an informal open session at 5pm on Thursday 23rd March where you can discuss a career in environmental health with some of our Environmental Health Officers and find out more about the apprenticeship opportunity.
For an informal discussion about the role and/or to book a place on the open session please contact Simon Neighbour via [email protected] or Craig Sharp via [email protected]
