Job Description

Are you caring, compassionate, motivated and interested in developing your career within the health service? Then this may be the opportunity for you! Join us at Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust (OHFT), train to become a qualified Dietitian and gain a MSc degree in Dietetics and Leadership whilst you work.

The Dietetic Apprenticeship programme combines clinical employment, work based learning, and academic learning. It is a fully funded route towards qualification as a HCPC registered Dietitian.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Dietetic apprentice to join the Adult Community Eating Disorder (ACED) team in Oxford. This is an exciting time for our team due to the ongoing development of a new service model for community, day-patient and inpatient services across Oxfordshire.

The post is based at the Warneford Hospital, Oxford. Our service provides a stepped-care model of care tailored to the needs of adults with a primary diagnosis of an eating disorder as well as those with co-morbid mental health problems and their carers. We offer a range of evidence-based treatments for eating disorders and deliver these within the community.

You will be employed as an Apprentice Dietitian at Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust and will work within the Adult Community Eating Disorders team and be provided with dedicated time to study for a degree in Dietetics and Leadership. The apprenticeships will be aligned to Coventry University.

During the apprenticeship you will develop skills and knowledge that will allow you to work in today's dynamic and changing healthcare environment. Whilst you will be based in one specific team across our community and mental health services, your placements will provide a variety of learning environments both within Oxford Health and with external healthcare providers.

There is a requirement to travel to the university campus for academic study and classes and to be able to travel between sites both within Oxford Health and externally for placements.

About the Adult Community Eating Disorder Service

The community team is comprised of a multi-disciplinary team including Clinical Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Dietitian, Nursing staff, Social Worker, Assistant Psychologists, Community Support Workers and team Administrators. We are moving towards the development of a life span service and have good links with colleagues in the Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders Services and also the Adult Community Eating Disorders service in Buckinghamshire.

The service offers excellent opportunities for supervision, service development, service evaluation and research, teaching and training. We have good supervision and operational structures and an excellent track record of CPD, as well as good links with Oxford University, and Oxford Brooks. The service is also committed to evidence-based and evidence generating practice and you will have the opportunity to be part of service evaluation and Quality Improvement projects.

The post-holder will be expected to assist in clinically related administration and will need to utilise data and research skills for audit and service development.

Entry requirements

It is not possible for any apprentice to enroll onto the Dietetic Apprentice if they are undertaking any academic course at the beginning of the apprenticeship. All courses must be ended, and the candidate must be unenrolled from any other courses the month before the beginning of the Apprenticeship.
