The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying business & product opportunities and converting them into value-added business for Topps International Sports and Entertainment, in partnership with the International Leadership Team. Specifically, this role will focus on uncovering product opportunities to add value for both the licensor and Topps in Cricket (The Hundred, ECB, The Ashes, Big Bash League), Rugby (The Lions, Six Nations, Rugby World Cup), Tennis, Handball, Darts, Boxing, and Snooker.

The Business Development Manager will optimize licensor relationships business by identifying and pursuing opportunities to create high-end products with autographs/memorabilia and on-demand products through eCommerce and may also pursue opportunities for geographic expansion. Further, the Business Development Manager will ensure strong, collaborative communication with the Fanatics Commerce team and align on mutually beneficial opportunities for growth. This role reports directly into the GM of International Sports and Entertainment.

Responsibilities

  • Setting the strategic direction with leadership team for the Sports License development and focusing on the biggest opportunities
  • Analyzing the current business and future potential business to build a ranking matrix to assess opportunities
  • Maintaining and pursuing a target list of business opportunities as agreed with the leadership team and reporting on them regularly
  • Sharing the reporting of opportunities and building relationships with the Fanatics Commerce team
  • Targeting key opportunities, negotiating with the licensor to define contract terms, and partnering with the International Management Team to secure the opportunity
  • Coordinating and validating the revenue and profit opportunity for the Sports Team, Product or Business opportunity
  • Agreeing the product line-up for the new opportunity with the Brand and eCommerce functions
  • Achieving business sign-off to move forward with the final contract signing
  • Agreeing a launch calendar with the various functional teams within the business who will be responsible for design, production and selling of the products
  • Ensuring the product launch calendar is achieved and delivered according to agreed-upon terms
  • Providing up-to-date reporting on the business to the business and the leadership team

Skills and Experience

  • Strong knowledge of the Sports business or a comparable industry and retail market
  • Strong existing relationships with partners and channels in the industry
  • Demonstrated history of identifyingpotential opportunities and turning them into tangible business
  • Broad business knowledge with good functional knowledge is essential; including Sales, Marketing, Management, Retail, Licensing, and Operations
  • Responsibility for P&Ls, budgeting, forecasting and sales and marketing plans
  • Proven record of accomplishment of delivering on P&Ls and KPIs
  • Ability to create and maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships
  • Proven success in a senior role
  • Flexibility to travel
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and complexity well, and to thrive in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment
  • Ambitious and Entrepreneurial
  • Background of inspiring people to deliver results against goals, by through leveraging their effective communication and leadership skills
