The function is responsible for crafting and managing the brands’ strategic marketing plan to deliver on the strategic, brand and product priorities of the business.

Marketing business partners for the product brands and corporate services – using knowledge and insight into our customers and their needs to ensure the businesses are delivering to those needs through our product brands and services
- External communications – creating the content, messaging, and ensuring it is consistent and joined up across the business. Aligning that messaging to our customers, the industry, the media, our stakeholders, and the business world as well as internally with our team members
- Channels – managing the channels (shared, earned, owned, and paid) through which we communicate about our brands, products and services

Scope of Role:
The content writer will be responsible for delivering a variety of written content for all Cox Automotive brands for publication on/in a variety of paid, owned, shared and earned channels. Outputs will include articles/blogs, insight papers, press releases, thought leadership and issues commentary, case studies, interviews, and scripts.
They will act as our inhouse ‘editor at large’, identifying and developing stories that articulate our propositions, campaigns, strategies and insights. Their copy will resonate with our target audiences and be channel appropriate.
They will work closely with the Director of Content and with the wider marketing and creative team, sales team, insight and strategy team, business leaders and other senior stakeholders. It’s vital they build a deep understanding of the Cox Automotive business, strategy, ambition and proposition and, where relevant, are able to contextualise this in the development of new content.
They will be adept at delivering error-free, well researched and engaging copy in all forms – long, short, social media, scripts, etc. They will be comfortable editing the work of others.
They will be willing and able to work with data to identify trends and areas of interest, and adjust their outputs to incorporate key words or themes.
They will be confident in interviewing business leaders, subject experts and third parties (e.g. customers, partners, influencers, etc) and adept at extracting and understanding their opinions and sentiment, while simultaneously representing marketing and Cox Automotive professionally.
They will be comfortable bylining for others in the business, and able to adapt their style to suit different audiences and brand personalities. They will also be happy to turn their hand to other copywriting projects as required, such as brochures and reports, and to provide coaching to marketing colleagues relating to the production of quality copy.
The will be curious, creative and thorough, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Key accountabilities include:

Delivery of error-free, well researched and engaging copy in all forms
- Produce copy that resonates with our target audiences and is channel appropriate
- Identify and develop stories that articulate our propositions, campaigns, strategies and insights
- Understand the Cox Automotive business, strategy, ambition and proposition and, where relevant, are able to contextualise this in the development of new content
- Support copywriting projects, provide adhoc coaching and champion the use of quality copy within Cox Automotive
Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

Minimum of degree level education (ideally business or marketing) or equivalent journalism qualification
- Experience of producing written content within a corporate or agency environment, or as a journalist within the automotive sector
- Experience in producing content in multiple formats
- Experience of managing multiple stakeholders and projects simultaneously, and an ability/desire to work collaboratively, both internally & externally
- Very good understanding of the automotive sector
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven experience of B2B marketing and multi-channel marketing with an appetite to continue develop knowledge and skills
- Ability to quickly familiarise themselves with the brands’ products and services, the target audiences and competitor activities
- You will be a self-starter who brings individual skill, creativity and tenacity coupled with a personality that aligns to Cox Automotive values and culture
