Welder Fabricator (Marine) – Felixstowe

Our client a very successful design and manufacturer company near Felixstowe is looking for an experienced Welder / Fabricator. As a business our client supports the welding, fabrication, and pipework requirements of their core customer base across marine and boatbuilding. Purpose of Role To fabricate metal components to assemble structural forms, using knowledge of welding techniques and engineering requirements.

Key Duties of a Welder/Fabricator:
- Must have a background in ship refitting specific. Preferable to have experience of new build background.
- Understanding of shipbuilding/ship repair practices
- Understand equipment manuals and installation guides.
- Previously coded welder MIG / TIG in aluminium process
- Steel MIG/MMA coding’s
- Be able to work with equipment plasma cutting, gas cutting, guillotines, radial drills, presses, welding equipment and hand tools.
- Plan fabrication & welding work and make estimates of materials required
Key Skills of a Welder/Fabricator:
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and working drawings
- Relevant Engineering experience
- Excellent Attention to detail
- Great Control of hands
- Strong passion
- NVQ Level 3 apprenticeship with HNC/NC Welding & Fabrication /Shipbuilding Qualification
- 3-5 years minimum trade experience in the marine industry
