Full-time, Fixed Term Contract for two years, 36.5 hours per week.

The Department of Physics is looking to appoint a technician to provide support to the Experimental Particle Physics (EPP) Group. The post will be located at the University of Birmingham but you will be employed by the University of Warwick.
The primary focus of the post is to contribute to the construction, testing, and installation of a semi-conductor-based tracking detector for the ATLAS experiment at the CERN laboratory near Geneva. This work is hosted by the University of Birmingham and so you will be predominantly based in Birmingham.
The main scientific activities associated with this post are as follows:
- Upgrade of the ATLAS tracker: Assisting in the assembly (gluing and ultrasonic wire bonding) of hybrid silicon detectors and associated electronics for an upgrade of a major detector component of the ATLAS experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider.
- Detector Testing and Quality Control: providing technical support for the testing and readout including thermal cycling as part of the ATLAS detector quality control.
- Maintenance: Responsibility for routine checks on equipment and systems for these tests and ensuring efficient operation.
You will have a HNC/HND or equivalent in a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience.
You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be able to work independently and as part of a team. You will have the ability to communicate and work with all manner of team members in a conscientious and inclusive way. You should also have excellent organisation skills and be able to plan your own workload.
