An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and proactive person to join the Student Disability and Inclusion Team as a Support Coordinator. In this role you will be responsible for coordinating and delivering specialist disability support for students to help them overcome any barriers they may face as a result of their disability and ensure they are able to access all aspects of university life.
Working closely with the Disabled Student Inclusion Team Leader and a team of Student Disability and Inclusive Support Coordinators, you will have responsibility for specific support areas but will also work as part of a team to ensure the timely delivery of all support. The support programmes include, but would not be limited to:

Supporting students to access the Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) and activities related to DSA and equivalent support for those not eligible for external funding.

Supporting activities which relate to the transition of first year disabled students into university.

Meeting with students to provide advice on how to access disabled student support.

Responding to student queries related to disability and inclusion, via email and phone.

Supporting students to access short term mentoring support.

Supporting the Peer Mentor programme. This may include recruiting, training and overseeing student Peer Mentors to support new and current students who may benefit from peer support.

Promoting and developing new initiatives and student support resources on appropriate communications channels.

Have an oversight of the provision of Assistive Technology that is available to students across the university and accessible remotely.

Other projects as required through identifying students’ needs.
Please note that occasional weekend working is required to support University events such as, Open Days, Welcome weekend, transition to university activities and graduation.

The salary for this post starts from £28,929 pro rata per annum (Please note that we would normally expect to recruit at the bottom of the scale).
