Job Description
As Procurement Category Assistant, you will work closely with team members to support a range of procurement activities contributing to the delivery of an efficient and effective procurement service and supporting this unique organisation’s ambitious tendering and compliance programme.
The department is currently adopting a hybrid working model, working between the Arts Tower in Sheffield, and own residence. Please note this is subject to change as new announces are made, and facilities are made available.
It is expected this role will be based in the Estates and Facilities Management Category, this team has a focus on procuring construction, soft facilities and hard FM maintenance packages. Within the role you will be required to support the procurement of Works, Goods and Services. You will also be required to carry out administration work across a varied range of subjects applicable to the Procurement Department as well the Estates and Facilities Management Category.
You will need to be a driven, well-organised individual with a keen eye for detail and have the ability to work both proactively and collaboratively within a small team in a high-pressure environment.
You will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, and excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office packages is essential, particularly Word and Excel. Experience of using a Business Management Software or Scheduling systems is advantageous.
Experience of building effective working relationships with stakeholders is essential. To demonstrate this, the candidate should ideally have at a minimum of one year of experience working in an internal or external customer facing role in an office environment.
Some experience of working within a procurement and/or industrial environment is desirable but not essential, however, the ability to evidence high professional standards and experience of working within a governance framework (following rules and practices to ensure accountability, fairness, and transparency) is essential. Procurement experience can be from a position that covers elements of procurement within e.g. Supply Chain, Production, Logistics, Estimating, sales etc.
This post will suit an outgoing and professional individual who wish to develop their skills across all areas of the procurement cycle.
As the Procurement team is placed within the University Finance department, the ability to demonstrate commercial acumen and an interest in Finance is desirable.
