To work within the CIO Infrastructure, Operations and EUT area’s, Disaster Recovery function, reporting to the Disaster Recovery Team Leader.
The primary role is to deliver Santander UKs (plus entities) Disaster Recovery planning, which includes the solution design and execution of the delivery and testing. This will be achieved by translating the Technical Architecture into a deliverable solution to meet the needs of the client.
The role holder will have communication with all key stakeholders including Santander’s Platforms & Digital Delivery teams, PMO, CIOs, Enterprise Architecture, 3rd party vendors and the Bank – you will also be expected to provide technical leadership and steer to different teams within the CIO function.

- Understanding the Risk principles and follow and promote the risk culture within your area of responsibility.
- Identifying, assessing, managing and reporting risk using the appropriate Company procedures and channels.
- Understanding complex IT environments to deliver clear and concise recovery concepts.
- Demonstrating and presenting concepts and solutions to senior management and the business in clear and concise manner, that is free from technical jargon.
- Managing recovery projects from concept to implementation.
- Developing the Disaster Recovery Strategy within Santander UK.
What you’ll bring.
- An outstanding understanding of DR disciplines in a Business and IT environment
- Proven ability to lead all sized teams, taking responsibility for the delivery of IT Continuity and DR projects and activities
- Extensive experience of producing recovery plans and leading testing activities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to engage a wide audience
- Excellent planning and co-ordination skills with an ability to negotiate and influence technical and business personnel
- Experience of Project management gained from working within projects and leading projects or work streams
It would also be nice for you to have.
- Strong technical background in Intel hardware
- Strong technical background in Virtualization Platforms
- Strong technical background in data centre infrastructure and configuration
- Open systems expertise
What else you need to know.
This is a permanent role based out of Milton Keynes working on a hybrid basis. The successful candidate will be expected to provide out of hours support, and to travel to other sites as and when required.
