Regional Engagement Principal
Description:
The Civil-Military Innovation Institute, Inc. (CMI2) seeks a full-time Regional Engagement Principal in the metro San Francisco (SFO), CA-area and Pacific-North Region to join the CMI2 defense innovation team supporting the National Security Innovation Network.
This full-time position reports directly to CMI2’s Vice President and Program Director.
The SFO Principal will manage CMI2’s research portfolio of work executed throughout the Bay area and Pacific-North Region and indirectly support National defense innovation projects.

Essential Position Functions:
- Manages project execution and day-to-day operations of the CMI2’s Pacific-North Region portfolio of work (to include academic applied research activities and requirements initiatives) and serves as the point of contact for Department of Defense contacts in the Region.
- Manage regional strategic plan, coordinate execution of that plan, and develop technical reports on all research and prototyping activities executed in the Region.
- Develops academic, non-profit, and industry strategic partnerships associated with the overall policy and technology objectives of throughout the Region.
- Responsible for creating a focal point where the R&D capabilities of CMI2 and other California regional academic and research institutions (T1), and leverage the development of solutions to military and commercial problems.
- Provides technical and project management of cross-functional teams to deliver first-article products on time and within budget.
- Interfaces with defense industry customers throughout the Region to understand requirements and critical product features.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Proven business development and/or coalition-building experience
- Familiarity with the Defense innovation ecosystem
- Knowledge of the defense, venture, and/or academic community throughout the Region
- MS degree in a scientific or technical discipline
- Demonstrated experience with research/product development teams
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in applied R&D
- Proven ability to lead teams and succeed in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
U.S. Citizenship is required.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $113,000.00 - $148,000.00 per year
