Full Time, Fixed Term for 12 months. This is a new role, it is a 12 month Fixed Term Contract which has the potential to be extended, if there is a need, after 12 months.
The Refugee Resettlement Team is looking to employ an inhouse interpreter who is fluent in speaking and listening in Dari and Pashto.
You will provide interpreting in Pashto and Dari for Afghan refugees who are living in temporary accommodation. The resettlement team has a number of support workers who will book appointments for interpreting so you will need good organisational skills.
You will support welcome to the UK classes, individual support plan meetings, social care assessments and school inductions. You will not be responsible for interpreting in hospital or police meetings and will not be working alone with children.
You must be fluent in spoken Pashto and Dari and have the ability to read and translate small written texts and communications.
You should have significant experience of interpreting and have the ability to travel around the city.
Please note that this role is subject to a Standard DBS Check.

For employees who are currently on a fixed term contract with Bristol City Council, the secondment must not extend beyond the end of the fixed term period to ensure there is a substantive post to return to.
