Job Description

This is a fantastic opportunity to become a true lens guru within our respected company at the forefront of lens technology. Take your career to the next step developing as a Lens Technician within our Re-Housing team.

This role is suited to an enthusiastic, innovative, confident team player with assembly experience and experience of working with small specialist components.

Within this quality focused role, you will be involved in calibrating the lens and precisely aligning and marking the focus and iris scales, in preparation for the engraving process. On the role training will be given as you learn the more intricate parts of this specialist technology.

A passion and interest in photography, cinematography and the filming industry will allow you to fully immerse yourself in the company’s forward-thinking lens innovation, although this is not a necessity.

To thrive in this role, you must have a calm and patient approach, ideally with experience of working with precision on specialist and delicate components. Attention to detail is paramount as well as the ability to work as a team and on your own initiative.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carefully pick and prepare all components for the rehousing process
  • Fit and assemble the new mechanical parts
  • Calibrate and adjust the optical components using projection and collimation
  • Precisely align and mark the new mechanical housing
  • Check and calibrate the test equipment is within specification
  • Other duties as specified by your manager.

Person Specification:

  • The candidate must be enthusiastic, punctual, engaged, and responsive
  • Attention to detail is paramount, we are obsessed with quality
  • Have a calm and patient approach, and treat everyone fairly and respectfully
  • Basic understanding of how to read engineering drawings (desirable)
  • Basic understanding and interest in photography/cinematography (desirable).

Competence Level:

  • Basic knowledge of mechanics, together with some experience of bench fitting / assembly
  • Understanding of how a lens works and dealing with small scale mechanics
  • Showing a willingness to learn
  • Listening to instructions & accepting returned work from a mentor
  • Asking questions as & when necessary
  • Work supported and checked off by a mentor.
