Job Description

Overview:
Do you want to make a real difference? Do you want to work in an environment where you can use your clinical skills and your creativity to achieve the best for people?

Join us in Kirklees as a Substance Misuse Nurse, be part of a great service with a diverse range of Specialists all working together to improve the health and wellbeing of people using drugs or alcohol.
Responsibilities:
As a Substance Misuse Nurse, working with Change Grow Live in Kirklees you’ll be joining us at an exciting time. We’ve been awarded a new 10 year contract and our service model is focussed on trauma aware, holistic support to people who use substances. You’ll join an experienced Clinical team of 4 Substance Misuse Nurses, Lead Nurse, 6 Nurse Prescribers, Speciality Doctor, Consultant Psychiatrist, Consultant Psychologist and Health Care Assistants. We are a large, supportive service with a wide range of other Specialist roles including Social Work and Mental Health.
We offer one to ones and appraisals, monthly clinical supervision, reflective practice, monthly CPD time, national forums to support development, structured diaries to support work life balance and a weekly wellbeing hour to make sure you can do something that benefits your health or wellbeing. We support revalidation and pay for your annual NMC fee, and provide access to excellent training programmes including the RCNi learning platform. Our pay scales are aligned to agenda for change with an annual increment on the anniversary of your start date plus an annual cost of living review.
We are open Tuesdays to Thursdays until 8pm to support patients who are in employment so the role will involve agreed late nights with early finish/late start during the week to promote a work life balance. Tuesday mornings are protected time for the whole service to support development and team meetings (in addition to your CPD). This is not a high pressured role, we want our teams to be healthy and well to support our patients to recover in the best possible way.
The role has recently developed and includes all of our new clinical offer to patients:

  • Alcohol assessment, developing treatment plans and supporting community detoxification.
  • Fibroscanning
  • Delivering Buvidal clinics (long acting Buprenorphine injections)
  • BBV testing, Vaccinations and support to access Hep C treatment
  • Wound Care clinics

Phlebotomy will be added to the role later in the year.

This is a great opportunity to further develop clinical skills within a large and supportive clinical team. Our clinic buildings are all renovated, modern, positive places to work and we will be moving into community delivery shortly to give greater access to our offer in the more rural communities.

We treat every person as an individual, so being flexible, empathetic, understanding and a good listener are key. We are looking for an enthusiastic, focused and values driven team player with either experience of working in substance misuse or a passion and willingness to learn.

We shortlist roles based on essential criteria in the job description, so in order to be offered an interview, please tell us how you meet this criteria in your personal statement.
