The Child Weight Management Nutritionist Clinical Lead is responsible for contributing to the delivery of Haringey GP Federations Child Weight Management Service, under the supervision of the associate medical director. The role will include leading the clinical team, running face-to-face clinics, liaising with schools and VCSOs, and helping to oversee the interventions on offer to children and their families. The role is paramount in ensuring the service is appropriate in meeting the needs of children, families and the wider community.

Main duties of the job

The aim of this post is to provide strong leadership so the team can work to identify and offer interventions to children who are overweight, with a view to improving their lifestyle and overall health for both the short and longer-term. The team will work with local statutory, private and voluntary providers, and users to develop and promote practice that is accessible and responsive to all sections of the local community, ensuring that services are targeted to the most vulnerable groups and individuals to support social inclusion.

Our vision is to support the people of Haringey to be healthier and happier. We do this by strengthening, innovating, and advocating for strong and sustainable General Practice in Haringey.

Our friendly, collaborative team has deservedly earned a strong reputation for providing best practice Primary Care services at scale. We are proud that our teams achievements have won external recognition, including a recent HSJ award for demonstrating professionally diverse clinical leadership in primary care.

We provide a range of services in Haringey, including those which are best delivered by Primary Care at scale, namely; integrated services, working with partners in our local borough partnership, together with support services, including back-office support, workforce and training and some shared staffing clinical teams. We also currently manage two local GP practices and lead the North Central London Training hub.

Job responsibilities

This is an exciting opportunity for Haringey to lead transformational work to improve the health and well-being of the school-age population. The role will require a motivated individual who is keen to make a change in an area faced with vast health inequalities. The role will be office-based and patient-facing, the latterin primary care, educational establishments and community centres.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To provide clinical leadership of the Child Weight Management Service

To support the patient-facing clinicians

To work alongside the administration team in ensuring the service best meets the needs of the local population

ACCOUNTABILITY AND SUPERVISION

The post holder will ultimately be accountable to the CEO of Haringey GP Federation and will be line managed by the associate medical director.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To support the clinical and non-clinical staff to deliver a safe and successful service to the local target population

To build further relationships with community organisations, school nursing and hard-to-reach patient groups to make the service as inclusive and easily accessible as possible

To manage the clinical team so that the highest standard of care is delivered to all patients

The post holder will have access to confidential information relating to patients, their carers, practice staff and other healthcare workers. They may also have access to information relating to the Federation as a business organisation.

Health and Safety
